Westfield Elementary School Reviews

I just wanted to note that the before/after school program is a partnership between the school and the BR Ryall YMCA. It provides private tutoring (included) and activities to make sure the students have fun. It starts 6:30am and goes as late as 6pm.

The theachers are excellent. I have a child care at home and some of the children under my care attent this school. The staff are always friendly and helpful when I have questions and concerns.

The principal is great, shows concern for all children. The school nurse is a wonderful resource and gives great feedback and reports when needed. My children came in the middle of the school year and the staff made me kids feel welcome and helped ease the transition. The parents are invovled in several activities at the school. The Marketday program is held at a time that is convient for parents to pick-up in the evening. There is even a before and after school daycare program available.

Great school. Academics are very solid. Structure and pace are appropriate. There is a 'challenge' program for those students that are ready for a 'honors' type program of additional learning. Most teachers have many (i.e.15+)years of experience. Sports and extra curricular are somewhat slim, likely due to the strong and abundant community programs. Parents are very involved, there are many weekend and weeknight activities like dances, flower sales, book fairs, etc. There is a music program for almost every grade, and older kids are able to get involved with the middle school band and orchestra. The community itself has an abundance of music opportunities for kids, with Wheaton College and College of Dupage also nearby.
